The residents of Mexico City are currently suffering from a historic heatwave, with temperatures hitting over 34°C.

The highest temperature since records began was measured on Monday 15th April in Mexico City, approximately 2300 metres above sea level, with an astonishing 34.2°C.

This broke the previous record of 33.9°C set in May 1998. Although the unusual heat has eased somewhat in the meantime, it will continue for several days.

Not only the capital is affected either, but almost the entire country. In lower-lying regions, the temperatures are showing staggering values above 40°C.
