Lightning on the radar
Thundery showers move through Ireland

Weather map showing Ireland and the UK with widespread rain in blue shades, heaviest over western Ireland near Galway, with cloud cover and temperatures around 11 to 14 degrees.
Early, heavy, showers move through the south-west of Ireland.

Heavy showers over Ireland on Wednesday will turn thundery by the afternoon as they move north-east.

Another gusty and rainy day on the Emerald Isle also sees conditions ripe for the development of thunderstorms.

The rain is moving north-east into the afternoon, with thunder and lightning forming over northern-central Ireland and into Northern Ireland.

Once lightning strikes begin to arrive, you can see them in near real-time on the LightningRadar.
