Hottest day of the year made!

The UK has seen its hottest day of the year so far, with temperatures soaring well past the previous record of 32°C.

So far, temperatures have reached a peak of 33.9°C in Cambridge, 33.4°C in Wisley, Surrey, while also reaching 32.8°C in Heathrow and 32.7°C in St James Park, London.

With dew points also around 20°C it's feeling especially sticky and humid out there.

Temperatures are likely to continue rising even higher for a time for eastern areas. Fresher air is however already being imported from the west, with some places starting to cool down.
