Heavy downpours in the south-west

Risk of heavy rain and lightning on the WeatherRadar overnight.

Through Wednesday evening, pulses of heavy and thundery rain will push up from the south-west.

From around 8 pm or 9 pm on Wednesday evening, 25th September, an area of heavy rain will arrive into south-west England, pushing north-eastwards.

The worst of the rain is expected to impact Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and later in the night, South Wales. Torrential downpours are expected, with the potential for hail and lightning embedded within too.

Rain will continue to track north-eastwards into the early hours, still looking potent around Worcestershire and Herefordshire, and later south-east England, before easing through Thursday morning.

Following the recent wet weather, there is the risk of flooding in these areas too. Weather warnings are in force through the day as rain persists.
