From Europe to America - Weather front over 4,500 miles long

A particularly long weather front stretches from the Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic to Florida. It separates cold polar air from warmer air further south.

There is heavy rainfall along the weather front and thunderstorms towards America.

The weather front is part of a powerful low-pressure system off Iceland. The core pressure of the low was at times below 940 hectopascals, which is unusually low.

Its outer bands are reaching Iceland and Scotland today, bringing rain, snow, and storms. In the Icelandic capital Reykjavik and Aberdeen, there are gusts of wind reaching 50 miles per hour.
