There's plenty of changeable weather still around during the week, and the autumn days are beginning to cool down after recent warmth.

Tuesday begins with a fresh north-south split. A misty and foggy start across the south of the UK before things turn brighter. To the north and west, a weak cold front brings cloud and rain to start. Rain clears from southeastern Ireland through the day.

From Wednesday a cold front meets a developing low pressure system, bringing a risk of persistent, heavy rain in the southeast of England. It will also be notably cooler from the day with daily highs dropping from the low-20s on Tuesday to the mid-teens from Wednesday.

By Thursday most areas can expect a fine, cooler day with sunny spells. Showers may form around the North Sea coasts while Ireland starts the day dry but will see rain and strengthening southwesterly winds.

Outbreaks of rain continue to move through in parts of Friday with temperatures remaining cooler than seen in recent weeks.
