Hello Storm Dave?
Potential named storm for Easter

This Easter weekend already looks to be a stormy one, but there is still some uncertainty on exactly how stormy. The chance of a named storm is a possibility.

Should the low-pressure system, which will pass over the north of Scotland, be named, it would become Storm Dave. The fourth named storm of the current season, though we have also felt the impact of three additional named storms which were christened by European agencies.

A number of weather warnings for wind have already been issued for Saturday and Easter Sunday for strong winds across Scotland, Northern Ireland, and some northern areas of England and Wales.

Gusts peak between 50 - 60 mph widely within the warnings areas, with stronger gusts of up to 70 mph in elevated, exposed areas.

Current indicators also present a risk of severe gales, up to 90 mph, in exposed parts of western Scotland as the system passes through Saturday night.

While these winds present the most prominent threat, they are also joined by heavy rainfall across Ireland and Scotland, possibilty resulting in surface flooding, especially along the coast with high tides and coastal flooding.
