Following the severe storm that hit Spain, there could be knock-on consequences on the UK's food supply.

A DANA storm hit Spain this past week, leading to catastrophic flooding and several fatalities as over one month's worth of rain fell in just a few hours across parts of southern and eastern regions.

Spain produces 32% of the UK's fresh vegetable supply, with much of this grown in Almeria.

Almeria has 40,000 hectares of greenhouses, much of which was just destroyed by the storm.

This comes just over a year after a devastating hail storm near Valencia wiped out 37,000 acres of crops, blanketing vines and shrubs in an icy coating.
