Change in Europe as high-pressure shifts the weather pattern

Change in Europe
High-pressure shifts the weather pattern

The weather situation across Europe is set to change dramatically this weekend: a strong high-pressure system is building over Northern Europe.

On its southern flank, small but active low-pressure systems are circling, often bringing a marked drop in temperature.

On Sunday, a strong high-pressure system over Northern Europe meets by low-pressure systems over the south.

On the one hand, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected from Spain across northern Italy, the Western Alps and south-western Germany as far as England, by Monday. On the other hand, it will also be very wet around the Black Sea.

However, as the high-pressure system is simultaneously pushing dry air into Central Europe from the east, the dry spell is set to continue in most regions. That said, it will become significantly cooler: with uncomfortably gusty winds, temperatures on Sunday will often not even reach the 10°C mark.
