Keep them cosy
Caring for your pets this winter

Our pets mean the world to us, so with winter in full swing and freezing morning temperatures set to end the week it is important to know how to care for our pets.

No matter how tempting it may be to stay inside on miserable days, dogs will always need their walks and to stay active.

So, when you do head out, try and avoid the freezing mornings which are set to arrive in the coming days if possible. When home carefully clean paws which may have picked up grit and dry to avoid dampness causing irritation.

Cats may be independent creatures, but winter can lead to a change in habit. Some felines who love exploring the world may spend more time at home, keep them active with a range of toys.

If they spend all year outside clear a space nearby the home that can be kept sheltered and dry for their visits.

Smaller animals that live outside like rabbits or ferrets may need to be temporarily moved. Add extra bedding to cages and check for cold drafts.
