Breakfast brief
Snow for some, still freezing for others

Snow, sleet, and rain return this morning for parts of southern and western Ireland.

Snow returns for parts of Ireland this morning, while in Scotland low temperatures plummet to new depths.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the Breakfast Brief, your first look at the day's forecast and a chance to catch up on what you may have missed.

Weather outlook

Areas in southern Ireland see snow in the early hours, which gradually pushes north, turning to sleep over central regions. In England, some snow may also fall in the south-west, though rain is more likely.

No signs of the cold snap breaking just yet, though we may see warmer temperatures next week today remains freezing with Glasgow reaching around -10°C by 09:00 am.

Some stronger, gusting winds reach the west coast of Ireland this afternoon, calm elsewhere.
