A return of heavier rain later today, first for Ireland, followed by the UK.

Warmth persists today, but it's a gloomier outlook, with rain spreading across the country later this afternoon.

It's still warm but moderate UV levels, but heavier rainfall makes a return later, particularly for Ireland into the afternoon as outbreaks build from the south of the UK towards the evening.

Numerous thunderstorms are sweeping across La Palma. The many lightning symbols on the radar and lightning map show that there is heavy lightning activity across large parts of the island. Emergency services are clearing up the damage. So, along with the thunderstorms, not only heavy rain but also gusts of wind can become a problem.
