Breakfast brief: Heat reaches its peak, thunderstorm risk

A continued risk of thunderstorms today, as temperatures reach their peak just shy of 30°C.

Today's highs reach up to 28°C in south-east England, where the greatest risk for thunderstorms continues. Despite this, it is generally drier, with showers through the day in Scotland and a slightly longer-lasting spell of rain over northern areas in Ireland.
