Breakfast brief
Bitterly cold start, and end, to the day

Widely at and below freezing to start the day.

Wrap up warm, it's another cold start and a colder end to Wednesday, with a chance of fresh show in the south of England.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the Breakfast Brief, your first look at the day's forecast and a chance to catch up on what you may have missed.

Weather outlook

Sub-zero temperatures spread widely this morning, and again overnight into Thursday. By 11:00 pm lows fall to around -10°C in Tralee, Co. Kerry and -6°C in Leeds.

Those in the south-west of England will feel some warmth, comparatively, with highs of 5°C this afternoon.

Despite this, those along the south coast also see a chance of fresh snowfall from the early afternoon, broadly dry elsewhere.
