Breakfast brief
A cold but sunny start to the week

Coffee

Welcome to the first of our Breakfast Brief series, where we'll be giving you a daily insight into the upcoming weather and notable news stories.

Weather trend

It's a cold start to this week as northerly winds took back control. With high pressure overhead through Monday there will be plenty of fine and dry weather under slack winds, so it will at least be pleasant outside.

The cold will quickly relinquish to a milder south-westerly flow early in the week though, but this will mean some rain coming in. The weather pattern looks pretty changeable beyond that however, so there's still the chance of some colder incursions at times.

Keep an eye out for the WeatherRadar to see the latest weather charts up to three days ahead.

What's coming up

Later this week we will explore the wonders that April's astronomy calendar is set to deliver which includes the oldest know meteor shower on record, the Lyrids. Check back on April 1st for this, it may be April Fool's Day but we swear we aren't kidding!

Also this week, March in review, A look back at the month we're leaving behind as told by its weather, and an April preview, examining current weather trends to share what we expect across the month.
