Both chilly and mild overnight with temperature split in the UK

15:00

Temperature split
Both chilly and mild overnight

Temperature map at 04:00 am on October 16th showing 4°C in Aberdeen, 7°C in Glasgow and Dublin, and milder 15°C in London and Norwich.
It's going to be a chilly, and mild, night into Friday.

It's going to be a chilly night for some of us, but overnight temperatures remain mild for those in the south of England.

While Scotland, particularly in the east and central areas, sees temperatures drop to around 4°C, it almost looks like spring is arriving in the south of England with London enjoying a mild night around 15°C.

This is as a cold front passes through the UK and Ireland, only reaching southern regions by Friday morning, providing one final night with a hint of warmth.

From Friday, the temperatures truly begin to feel autumnal. With more widespread overnight temperatures in the low-single digits.

Saturday sees freezing temperatures across the Scottish Highlands, and even for Glasgow at -1°C. This stretches further south on Sunday, with hilly areas of Wales and central Ireland also dropping to freezing.

The best of the warmth will still stick around in the south-east to east of England with lows of around 8°C, and a few degrees warmer along the coasts at 10°C.
