Blood rain possible
Saharan dust reaches the UK & Ireland

Saharan dust is currently travelling across Western Europe, into the UK and Ireland.

This, not uncommon, phenomenon brings with it the possibility of "blood rain". With dust falling with rain, often coating cars with residue.

The presence of dust in the skies also produces vibrant colours as the Sun rises and falls.

Heavy rain will pass over the UK and Ireland from Friday afternoon, overnight into Saturday, so delay any plans of a car wash.

You can track the dust, currently being transported by medium to high-altitude clouds, on the WeatherRadar.
