Breakfast brief
Bitterly cold, but dry for many

It's a cold and frosty start out there for many, but with plenty of sunshine through the day.

Kickstarting your morning

Welcome to the breakfast brief, offering your daily weather forecast and a sneak peek at the day's news.

Weather outlook

A cold and frosty start for many across the UK and Ireland, with temperatures sub-zero in places. However, a bright start and with plenty of sunshine developing.

The exception of Northern Scotland where outbreaks of rain will drive in from the west, turning heavier overnight. A few light spots can't be ruled out elsewhere in the north and west.

What's coming up in the news

With the stunning aurora that graced our skies on Thursday night, we'll be rounding up some of the best shots. Plus, find out more about the once in a lifetime comet that will also be visible from today!

It's also Friday, which means your latest weather trend will land at approximately 4 pm!
