Are temperature and UV levels linked?

When the sun is shining we know it is time to apply sunscreen… but do UV levels correlate with temperature?

It is often suggested to avoid midday sun, this is because between 11:00 am and 02:00 pm UV levels are at their strongest due to the sun’s position in the sky.

However, it is not until around 03:00 pm that we tend to see the maximum temperatures of the day as the sun passes its apex position.

So, if you think that just because it is cool outside do not forget to take safety precautions because there is no direct link between temperatures and UV levels.
