Weekend outlook
Cool and changeable weather continues

Blustery showers will move across many parts of the UK and Ireland this Saturday.

Atlantic weather systems remain in charge over the next few days, with a mix of rain, showers and some sunshine as well.

Saturday will often start dry and bright across large parts of Wales, central and southern England. Meanwhile, scattered showers, some heavy and wintry, will already affect parts of Ireland, Scotland, Cumbria and northeast England.

These more showery conditions are then expected to spread south and east during the day, perhaps with some isolated hail and thunder for some. However, there will also be some lengthy sunny spells in between as well.

By Sunday, a new frontal system arrives from the Atlantic, with rain pushing into Scotland and Ireland in the morning. Further south and east, things will be dry and bright initially, before thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain arrive.

Winds will be fresh to strong in many places as this frontal band passes, but especially so in northern and western parts, where gusts may reach gale force at times.

Temperatures meanwhile will often be just below average on Saturday, then rise slowly to average values on Sunday and Monday, so don't put away those warmer jackets just yet.
