Tips to keep your furry friends safe
After a wintry walk in snow or ice, it’s important to clear away any ice balls that may collect between your pet’s paws, as they can cause painful freezing or frostbite. Bathe your pets as little as possible during cold spells, it can remove essential oils and increase dryness in their skin
Protect their paw pads! Putting petroleum jelly or booties on your pet can prevent grit from getting lodged, and protect against salt or other chemicals on the ground. Check the hood of your car for cats before driving, they like to go there to keep warm. Grab a coat! Smaller or short-haired breeds might benefit from that extra layer. Don't leave your furry friends outdoors for too long, beyond their regular exercise. Stay prepared with emergency food, water and any medication.
