No astronomical repeat
Where is the Christmas Star?

Bright star in night sky

Two years ago, we were treated to a rare festive spectacle with the arrival of the Christmas Star. We won’t see a repeat for another 58 years!

The Christmas Star of 2020 was the first to appear since 1226 and isn’t actually a star at all but a coming together of Jupiter and Saturn in the night sky.

After a 795 year wait between the previous two stars the next won’t have quite the same wait with a close alignment of the two planets forecast to occur in 2080, and 2400 after that.
