A shopping centre in Sussex is underwater, after heavy overnight rain across South East England caused widespread flooding.

The Priory Meadow Shopping Centre in Hastings, is currently closed as fire and rescue services attempt to pump floodwater away. Several roads in and around the area are also submerged.

Over 20 flood alerts and warnings are currently active across both Kent and Sussex, and the Environment Agency has advised people to stay away from swollen rivers, as some have already burst their banks.

An eel was even spotted swimming through Hastings town centre in East Sussex this morning.

With temperatures expected to dive sub-zero overnight, the standing water poses a significant ice risk, with some of this flood water freezing in places. You can check the TemperatureRadar here.
