We're all wanting to get into the Christmas spirit, but sometimes the weather just doesn't allow it. So we're daydreaming of the snowiest places in the world.

Of course there are far more than just these five, but here are some of the top runners.

Niseko, Japan

With an annual average snowfall of 15 metres, Niseko is undoubtedly one of the snowiest destinations on the planet. Hokkaido as a whole is renowned for its brilliant powder and perfect snow set-up.

Nagano, Japan

Nagano is home to Hakuba, a world-renowned ski resort in the northern Japanese Alps. Every year, the city gets an average of 11 metres of snow.

Chamonix, France

A little closer to home, this French ski resort usually receives around 10 metres of snow, with the winter season lasting around six months. It was the site of the first Winter Olympics in 1924!

Aleyska, Alaska

An average of 10 metres of snow falls here every year, with plenty of winter sports available in the abundant snow. It's a ski resort that is located just under 50 kilometres from Anchorage, Alaska's largest city.

Mount Rainier, Washington

Parts of Mount Rainier, such as the Paradise Ranger Station, reportedly see around 17 metres of snow per year. It's a Pacific Northwest mountain pass rising 4392 meters above sea level.

So, it certainly looks like Japan takes the gold for one of the most snowiest places on the planet. Have you ever visited any of these before?
