How rain can help you sleep at night

Rain on window

Did you know that rain can actually provide a bright side to bad weather?

We've had an interlude of fine, dry weather to start the week, thanks to high pressure overhead. But there's rain on the horizon, which will arrive from the west through the night.

Although this might come across as a disappointment after a day of blue skies, the rain at night could actually help you sleep better.

Rain makes a rhythmical sound, similar to that of a lullaby which helps us fall asleep quickly.

This is because the brain perceives the rain as a non-threatening sound, causing it to relax and produce alpha waves. This is consequently very calming for us and helps us to relax, so we fall asleep easily and soundly.
