Natural pick-me-ups for spring fatigue

Spring fatigue manifests in various ways. Loss of energy and motivation being the most common but there are some ways to alleviate the impact.

Aside from fresh air and lots of exercise, a detox cure can help. The nettle is one of the best-known detox herbs due to its blood-cleansing and dehydrating effect.

It contains about 25 milligrams of vitamin C per 100 grams, which is about 30 times higher than in lettuce.

The same applies to dandelions. The bitter substances taraxin and triterpenes contained in it have a strong influence on digestion, liver and bile function.

Both these herbs can be used as tea. To do so, take a handful of fresh young nettle or dandelion leaves, pour 250 millilitres of boiling water over them and allow the herbal tea to steep for five minutes.

It may sound like a broken record but exercise can play a large role in maintaining a healthy body and mind. As little as a 15-minute walk can give you an energy boost and regular exercise has been proven to boost barriers against infection and shake off fatigue.

Spring is in full flow, so if you're still feeling a little shaken by the new season try taking in some nature for some vitamin D goodness.
