Warm end to the week
Late summer interlude

Weather map showing forecast temperatures for England and Wales on Wednesday 17 September and Friday 19 September. On Wednesday, most areas range between 17°C and 21°C, while by Friday temperatures rise, with London and Norwich reaching 24°C and many regions showing 21°C. The colour shading shifts from lighter to darker orange, indicating a general warming trend. The TemperatureRadar shows the coming warmth towards the end of the week.

Late summer will make a brief comeback over the next few days. After highs of around 20 degrees on Wednesday, temperatures rise again for a more summery feeling.

Daily highs to end the week return to the mid-20s in parts of eastern to south-east England.

A low-pressure system resting over the UK and Ireland is responsible for the change, with high-pressure to the south-east of Europe funnelling warmer air over much of the continent, and a small area of England.

By Saturday, temperatures will once again exceed 25 degrees in large parts of Central Europe. Regionally, peak values of around 30 degrees are even expected.

However, the warm weather will not last long. By the start of the new week at the latest, this late summer greeting will be history – just in time for the start of autumn, by the way.
