It has been confirmed that both the UK and Ireland have seen a white Christmas this year!

On December 25th, Christmas Day, rain turned wintry across parts of the Scottish Highlands. The technical white Christmas was observed at Loch Glascarnoch, between Ullapool and Inverness.

At a similar time, sleet, a mixture of rain and snow, was also observed at Lough Fea in Northern Ireland. All it takes to define a white Christmas in the UK is one single snowflake observed falling anywhere.

In Ireland, snow also accumulated in Wicklow and also Kildare during the evening, as seen in the tweet above.
