Fascinating Northern Lights in the sky

Beautiful auroras were visible across many parts of Europe Tuesday night, and a significant geomagnetic storm means they are likely to still be visible Wednesday night too.

They mostly danced across the sky in reddish to violet colours, and were often even visible to the naked eye.

The reason for this natural spectacle is a particularly strong solar flare, which is still ongoing. Charged particles reach Earth with the solar wind and cause air molecules in the upper atmosphere to glow.

Therefore, the chances of seeing the Northern Lights remain good over the coming nights. They will be particularly strong on Wednesday night.

Don't forget to upload your shots if you manage to spot them!
