Astronomical spring
The spring equinox has passed

winter to spring tree

As of 09:01 am, the spring equinox has officially passed, meaning astronomical spring is underway in the Northern Hemisphere!

There are two starts to spring, meteorological spring on March 1st, and astronomical spring which began at 09:01 am, the moment the Sun is directly over the equator.

On this day, there are nearly equal amounts of daylight and darkness wherever you are in the world. This is what gave the equinox its name, with the word coming from the Latin for equal (aequus) and night (nox).
