Overnight temperatures broadly reaching sub-zero, and snow flurries in places, have impacted travel Thursday morning.

Manchester Airport temporarily closed both runways earlier on Thursday morning, which have since reopened but resulted in delays to departures and arrivals.

On the railways, multiple lines in Wales are closed due to damaged tracks following the arrival of snow, rain and strong winds resulting in flooding and infrastructure damage.

Meanwhile, in North Yorkshire, 33 people had been trapped at the snowed-in Tan Hill Inn since Saturday.

Britain's highest pub was stocked with enough food and water for the duration, and people have now started to depart after assistance from a local farmer clearing snow from roads.

Thursday night could become the coldest of the season so far, with lows of around 16°C in remote regions of northern England, into Scotland.
